Free Antivirus
A couple free antivirus solutions which can be used on personal PCs when other options are not available. Good practice would be that every PC at MUSPH have some form of antivirus installed, at the very least one of the following.
Preferred option: avast! Home Edition
avast! Home Edition is free for non-comercial personal use. It works well and does not bother the user with pop-ups or nag screens.
Advantages:
- full system scan, on-access scan, on-demand scan and boot-time scan.
- no nag screens
Disadvantages:
- requires user registration for activation key
- could be too heavy for some very old PCs
Download it from the avast site here: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Or see tech support.
Option of last resort: ClamWin
